As a Digital News Intern with FOX 5 DC, I contributed to the station’s daily news operation by reporting, writing, and publishing over 100 digital articles spanning breaking news, crime, politics, local government, courts, public safety, and community impact stories. I worked in a fast-paced newsroom environment where accuracy, clarity, and timeliness were essential, and I gained experience writing SEO-optimized headlines, verifying information through official sources, and crafting stories that served the Washington, D.C. region.

In addition to my reporting work, I supported FOX 5’s digital and social media team by assisting with daily content planning, audience engagement, and platform formatting.
One of the most meaningful parts of my internship was developing and presenting a full social media strategy proposal for the newsroom, with my fellow intern and friend, where I analyzed audience behavior, evaluated platform performance, and recommended data-driven solutions for improving engagement, reach, and content efficiency. My presentation focused on integrating brand psychology, community-centered storytelling, and platform-specific best practices to strengthen FOX 5’s digital impact.
Through this experience, I expanded my skills in journalism, analytics, and content strategy, gaining a deeper understanding of how local newsrooms serve their communities both on-air and online.
